WHAT IS PCS?

Post-Concussion Syndrome, or PCS, is the persistence of concussion symptoms for greater than six weeks post-injury. The majority of concussion symptoms will resolve within about two weeks, and with proper recovery almost all dissipate within a month. In cases where symptoms linger past six weeks, doctors may diagnose Post-Concussion Syndrome.

PCS TREATMENTS

For the vast majority of concussions, simply resting and gradually returning to activity clears up concussion symptoms in a matter of days or weeks. This is the current standard of care, and has helped countless concussion victims through a full recovery. Sometimes, however, rest on its own isn’t enough, and so doctors may suggest trying active treatments to target symptoms that are not resolving on their own. Learn more.

Coping with PCS

Life with PCS is hard. Symptoms get in the way of anything that requires you to use your brain: school, work, social life, and hobbies all find themselves on the back burner while the brain slowly heals. Here are some tips about how to cope, from those of us that have been there.
