Erik Smith

Erik Smith brings his expertise in storytelling, advertising, and digital strategy to help elevate CLF’s mission. An accomplished entrepreneur, he is the founder and CEO of Seven Letter, an award-winning strategic communications firm based in Washington, D.C.

A graduate of Boston University, Smith has more than 30 years of experience in public affairs, media strategy, and crisis management. Recognized by PR News as 2025 CEO of the Year, Smith has guided Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, and national politicians through some of their most complex communications challenges.

Smith has served as a senior strategist and advisor in national politics and government, including leadership roles on four presidential campaigns, in Congressional leadership and national party committees.

In addition to his professional work, Smith is a passionate advocate for social impact and public service. A father of five, he serves on several nonprofit boards and is dedicated to advancing causes that improve health, education, and community well-being for children and families.
