The Honorable Matthew S. Collier

A past board president, The Honorable Matthew S. Collier rejoins the CLF Board of Directors following his prior tenure from 2018-24.

In addition to his extensive private sector expertise, Collier served as an Airborne-Ranger Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army and held major elective public office. He holds degrees from West Point and Harvard University. 

Collier recently ran for U.S. Congress in his home state of Michigan, where he served as Mayor (Chief Executive) of Flint, Mich. Collier was also presidentially appointed as a Senior Advisor to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, responsible for all VA strategic partnerships. 

As co-founder and chair of the CLF Veteran Advisory Board, Collier helped launch Project Enlist in 2018 to accelerate research on TBI, CTE, and PTSD in the military community. 

A passionate supporter of nonprofits nationwide, Collier is also Chairman Emeritus of One World, a non-profit youth leadership and character development organization; a director on the board of the National Association of Veterans’ Research and Education Foundations (NAVREF), overseeing more than $350M per year in VA clinical trial-based medical research; and a board member of St. Mark’s Community Outreach Center, a nonprofit inner-city food distribution organization in Flint.
