Matt Downing

Program and Events Coordinator

Matthew Downing joined the Concussion Legacy Foundation team in July 2023, after working in the Olympic and Paralympic movement for the last 3 years. He has experience planning and executing large scale events and tournaments at organizations such as U.S. Soccer, USA Triathlon, and most recently USA Football. Matthew is committed to making sports safer and accessible for all. He also currently serves on several committees and working groups dedicated to making sports accessible to people with disabilities and minorities.

Growing up, Matthew was surrounded by military and sport influences. His grandfather played football at West Point and served as an officer in the Army. Several other family members, including his mom, also served in the military. Matthew’s father played basketball at the University of Maryland and currently coaches college basketball. These influences pushed him to pursue a career in sports and help those in the veteran community.

Matthew graduated Magna Cum Laude from Campbell University with his Bachelor’s of Science in Sports Management with minors in Marketing and Business Administration in May 2021. He currently lives in central North Carolina with his wife and two pets, Juniper and Daisy. He is an avid soccer lover and spends his free time traveling with his wife and trying new foods.
