Australian Sports Brain Bank Free Public Seminar

Dr. Michael Buckland of the Australian Sports Brain Bank is honored to host CLF co-founder and CEO Chris Nowinski, PhD for a public seminar and open Q&A session in December at the University of Sydney Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

At this event, Dr. Nowinski and Dr. Buckland will tackle the difficult subject of concussion in sports and discuss the latest research in Australia and internationally. You will learn about chronic traumatic encephalopathy and hear from family members of those affected. For athletes and ex-athletes, Dr. Nowinski will educate on maintaining brain health, and taking control of your destiny after concussion.

Speakers 

CLF co-founder and CEO Chris Nowinski, PhD

Dr. Nowinski is the founding CEO of the Concussion Legacy Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to solving the sports concussion crisis through education, advocacy, and research. Chris co-founded the VA-BU-CLF Brain Bank and the BU CTE Center, where he serves as the Outreach, Recruitment, Education, and Public Policy Leader.

Chris received his Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience at Boston University School of Medicine and is the author of the critically acclaimed book Head Games, as well as >25 medical journal articles. Chris is a former American footballer and WWE professional wrestler and has lived experience of concussion and post-concussion syndrome. Since retiring from professional sport due to concussion he has been dedicated to solving the concussion crisis.

Dr. Michael Buckland

Dr. Buckland is Head of Neuropathology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the Founder and Director of the Australian Sports Brain Bank. 

Peter FitzSimons

Peter FitzSimons is an author, journalist, radio presenter, and TV presenter. He is a former national rugby union player and Australian Sports Brain Bank Ambassador.
