Matt Hasselbeck
Matt Hasselbeck is a former Pro Bowl quarterback who spent 18 seasons in the NFL. A Boston College graduate, Hasselbeck was selected by Green Bay in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft. After three seasons with the Packers, he was traded to Seattle, where he led the Seahawks to the playoffs six times in 10 seasons, including the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance following the 2005 season.
After retiring in 2016, Hasselbeck spent seven years as an ESPN analyst before transitioning to coaching high school football in Nashville. In 2017, he followed his father Don, a former NFL tight end, by pledging his brain to CTE research. Then, in 2025, Hasselbeck became the Concussion Legacy Foundation’s first ambassador for the DIAGNOSE CTE Research Project-II, which will examine new potential biomarkers using blood and brain imaging to help doctors diagnose CTE in living patients.
