e-Concussion Project

Founded in June 2023 by Isaac Lockett and Freja Petrie, the e-Concussion Project aims to support the development of more accurate representation of concussion in sports-based video games. Video games have successfully been used as educational tools, but to date, concussions are not typically stimulated in video games, meaning an opportunity is currently being missed to raise awareness of concussion management guidelines.

Since the launch the project has been supported by the Westonbirt School Alumni Association Award. This award funded a diagnostic study that explored how concussions were represented in three leading football and rugby video games. These findings were then presented at the IOC World Conference on Injury Prevention.  The subsequent conversations with CLF UK has led to the establishment of this new partnership. This collaboration will allow the e-Concussion project to gain momentum, through shared industry contacts and research experience.

Updates and results from the e-Concussion Project’s first phase will be shared soon. In the meantime, the e-concussion Project invites collaboration opportunities and expressions of interest for partnerships or funding.
